Hayfield Celebrates Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee with the Buckinghamshire Village of Hanslope

June 7, 2022

The Buckinghamshire village of Hanslope enjoyed four days of celebrations to commemorate Her Majesty, The Queen’s 70th year as Monarch and Head of the Commonwealth on her Platinum Jubilee. Housebuilder Hayfield worked alongside the Hanslope Jubilee Committee as the principal sponsor.

The official Jubilee proceedings commenced at 2pm on Thursday 2nd June with town criers and Pearly Kings and Queens announcing a specially written Proclamation, heralding the lighting of the beacons later that evening. At 9:35pm that same day, Buckinghamshire bagpiper Julia Reed played Diu Regnare – a unique tune specially written for the occasion – at Hanslope Recreation Ground. This was followed by a bugle call, entitled Majesty, and then the lighting of Hanslope’s beacon, which took place at 9:45pm, in the presence of over 200 local people. The exact timing of the Jubilee events was honoured by all 1,500 official Jubilee locations across the UK and the Commonwealth.

Andy Morris, Managing Director of Hayfield said: “We were delighted to pledge our support to Hanslope’s Jubilee celebrations, especially as many of the residents who have recently moved into Hayfield Walk in the village attended. What a privilege it was for the country and the wider Commonwealth to come together and celebrate the achievements of Her Majesty The Queen, Britain’s longest serving monarch. Paying tribute to her 70 years of selfless service was a joy and an honour for us all.  These special events brought communities together en masse and created such positive and long-lasting memories.”

Hanslope’s Jubilee events also included a dog show and sports day on Saturday 4th June, and a street party on Sunday 5th June, where 80 long tables lined Hanslope High Street, which was closed off to vehicle access for the day. The table bookings sold out to local people within 20 minutes of going on sale in mid-April.

Cllr Alison Andrew, a member of Hanslope Parish Council and the Jubilee Committee said: “We are very grateful to Hayfield and all those who have supported us for many months to ensure Hanslope’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations were a truly momentous occasion. The Parish Council and Jubilee Committee are very proud that Hanslope was recognised as an official Jubilee Beacon location. The formal proceedings were intertwined with the spontaneity and joy of family, friends and neighbours celebrating together across the four-day weekend.”

Hayfield Walk was dressed with Jubilee flags and bunting for the four-day weekend in fitting tribute to Her Majesty The Queen. Featuring a total of 101 new homes, the scheme offers a greener way of living via air source heat pumps, energy-efficient underfloor heating, enhanced insulation, electric vehicle fast-charging points, and ultra-fast broadband. Accessed off Castlethorpe Road within easy reach of Hanslope’s range of amenities, prices for the current release start from £365,000.
