Sisters Become Neighbours at Hayfield Place in Silsoe, Bedfordshire

July 30, 2021

First time buyers Callie Humphreys and Ryan Burton have relocated from Potters Bar on the outskirts of London to Hayfield Place in Silsoe, Bedfordshire. The move was inspired by Callie’s sister moving to the highly acclaimed development.

Callie and Ryan – both aged 30 – gave up their rented flat and moved in with Ryan’s parents in order to save for a deposit and make their first steps onto the housing ladder. After 18 months of saving – and by using Help to Buy together with Hayfield’s £5,000 Key Worker Discount – they have purchased a two-bedroom Lulsley home.

Callie Humphreys said: “As an NHS Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, I am all too aware of how hard the Covid-19 lockdowns have been for so many people. Ryan and I were lucky to both keep our jobs throughout the pandemic, and we actually saw it as an opportunity to fully commit to saving up for a home of our own. Not being able to go out to restaurants and bars was a blessing in disguise for us!

“My younger sister and her fiancée moved into a three-bedroom house at Hayfield Place last year. We were taken aback by the quality of the development, how spacious it was and also the village of Silsoe itself, with Wrest Park and the traditional pubs nearby. We had a chat with the sales team and realised we could afford to buy a Lulsley home by using Help to Buy, and with the benefit of Hayfield’s £5,000 Key Worker Discount. We moved in a few weeks ago, so we managed to make further savings from the Government’s Stamp Duty holiday too. We feel so lucky to be living in such a high-quality new home.

“We both work from home a lot, so we are currently using the spare bedroom and the living room for home working. It’s great that our living room is big enough to fit a permanent desk in, in addition to our sofas and coffee table. My favourite part of the house is definitely the kitchen, as it’s so spacious and the lighting creates a lovely homely feel. The glazed internal door means we can see straight through into the garden.”

The 14-acre Hayfield Place scheme features 105 exceptional two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom executive family homes and bungalows. The homes have been selling ahead of the build programme and the current release of large three-, four- and five-bedroom houses ranges in price from £450,000 to £900,000.

Hayfield Place has been designed to reflect architectural styles from the sought-after historic village, weaving in local materials and detailing. The new homes are being constructed in red and buff brick and render with a luxurious specification that is unmatched in the area. The specification features include underfloor heating, designer Laufen bathrooms, Minoli ceramic tiles, Hammonds fitted wardrobes, Farrow & Ball paint, heritage bronze door furniture and bi-fold doors. The bespoke kitchens designed by Manor Interiors include a range of integrated Bosch appliances, such as multifunctional ovens, an induction hob and dishwasher.

A Renz Intelligent Parcel Box has been installed to enable parcels to be delivered safely and securely to those who aren’t at home. New public footpaths, a balancing pond, a biodiversity corridor that will run across the site, and a new section of bridleway and cycle route are all being created to connect Hayfield Place into the local Bedfordshire footpath network.

The nearby towns of Milton Keynes, Luton and Bedford offer a wealth of shopping, restaurants, entertainment and sporting facilities. Luton airport is 12 miles away, and Flitwick Railway Station is four miles away, making it an ideal location for those wishing to travel for pleasure or commute.

The development is located at High Street, Silsoe, Bedfordshire, MK45 4ES. It is open seven days a week from 10am – 5pm. More information on Hayfield Place is available here: https://www.hayfieldhomes.co.uk/development/hayfield-place
