Hayfield has appointed Simon Evans as a Contracts Manager to oversee six of the five-star homebuilder’s developments, located across middle England. The expansion of the construction team is in line with Hayfield seeking to deliver a turnover of £100m during the current financial year, which will double the 2020 figure.
Simon Evans joins from Barwood Homes, where he was a Construction Director, with overall responsibility for all site-based targets and reporting, feasibility studies and pre-start work, dealing with building complexities and leading a large team. Prior to that, he was Area Build Director for Bovis Homes, where he was responsible for all the company’s sites between Nottingham and Oxford. Simon has also previously worked for David Wilson Homes, where he received two NHBC Seal of Excellence Awards, a Quality Award and also won Divisional Site Manager of the Year. He has accumulated a total of over 30 years’ experience in the housebuilding industry.
Andy Morris, Operations Director of Hayfield said: “As a five-star HBF Homebuilder, investing in the strength and depth of our construction team is critically important to our growth plans. I am thrilled to be able to welcome Simon Evans to Hayfield, as his technical and interpersonal skills are renowned. He will be able to steer our site-based teams and wider supply chain to deliver the exceptional quality we have built our multi award-winning reputation on.”
Mr Evans is skilled at operations, project and contract management, as well as sub-contractor sourcing, procuring site materials and health and safety. He has been appointed to oversee the final phase of construction at Hayfields in Southmoor, South Oxfordshire and Hayfield Grange in Southam, Warwickshire, where all the homes are fully sold.
Simon’s other live projects include Hayfield Green in Stanton Harcourt, West Oxfordshire, which is the redevelopment of a former RAF airfield, where there are only four homes still available off-plan. Hayfield Wood in Broad Blunsdon, Wiltshire is newly launched, while Hayfield Gate in the Bedfordshire village of Clifton launched to the market last year and is selling well ahead of the build programme. Hayfield Walk in Hanslope, Buckinghamshire and Hayfield Park in the Bedfordshire village of Bromham are two newly acquired development sites that will also be overseen by Mr Evans.
Simons Evans, Contracts Manager for Hayfield said: “It was great to read about Hayfield’s significant growth last year, despite all the challenges faced by housebuilders because of Covid-19. I am delighted to be joining a company with such a dynamic and passionate team. There is a strong sense of pride in the quality of the product delivered to customers and this will be the focus of everything I seek to do, both with colleagues and the supply chain.”
Hayfield’s growth has been fuelled by £85m of equity and debt funding, which has enabled the five-year old housebuilder to acquire a significant land bank. A £50m senior debt site acquisition facility, together with rolling development funding, is provided by OakNorth Bank plc. In addition, a prominent Dubai-based family office private investor – with over 30 years’ property development experience in the UK and internationally – has provided a £35m rolling equity facility.
Hayfield has recently won Gold and Bronze accolades at the 2020 WhatHouse? Awards and has also received three Pride in the Job NHBC Awards.
